(002) Website takeover, rescue & migration

Migrate & Revive. The website nobody
wants to touch? We do.

We take over websites built by others. Audit, stabilize, and take full ownership, or move you to a platform that fits. We’ve done it dozens of times.

Migrate & Revive, in short

Sound familiar?

Select everything that applies to your website today.

  • Our developer or agency disappeared.
  • Nobody knows where the logins are.
  • We are afraid to update anything.
  • The site is slow and nobody knows why.
  • Forms break and customers tell us first.
  • We have no idea if backups exist.
  • We have outgrown our platform.
  • Every small change takes weeks.

Two paths. One audit decides.

Not every site needs a rebuild. The audit tells us whether to fix what you have or move you somewhere better, and we explain why.

  • Path A

    Revive.

Keep your platform. We fix, secure, speed up and document what’s there.

    • The platform still fits your goals
    • Problems are fixable without a rebuild
    • Fastest route to a stable site
  • Path B

    Migrate.

Move to a platform, host or domain that fits, without losing what you’ve built in search.

    • You’ve outgrown the platform
    • Hosting is slow, costly or locked in
    • Fixing would cost more than moving

How a takeover works

From “who built this?” to “we’ve got it.”

  1. 01 / Audit

    Find everything.

Access, code, plugins, security, speed, SEO and integrations, reviewed and written up in plain language.

  2. 02 / Secure access

    Get the keys back.

Domain, hosting, DNS, CMS and analytics accounts recovered and put back in your name. Unknown users removed.

  3. 03 / Stabilize or migrate

    Fix it, or move it.

Updates, backups, security and speed, or a planned migration on a staging site you review before anything changes.

  4. 04 / Own

    Take full ownership.

Everything documented. From here, we’re accountable for the site, so nothing depends on the people who built it.

(001–009)

What the audit covers.

  1. Access & ownership

Domain, DNS, hosting, CMS and third-party accounts: who controls them, and getting them back in your name.

  2. Code, theme & plugins

What was built custom, what is outdated, abandoned or duplicated, and what can be removed.

  3. Security

Users, permissions, vulnerabilities, SSL and signs of past compromise or spam.

  4. Performance

Load times, image weight, scripts and hosting limits, with the biggest wins first.

  5. SEO & search visibility

Indexing, redirects, metadata, schema and anything quietly costing you traffic.

  6. Analytics & tracking

Whether GA4, tags and conversions are installed, accurate and owned by you.

  7. Forms & integrations

CRMs, email, booking tools and payment flows, tested end to end.

  8. Accessibility check

A first look at the most visible accessibility issues, with a full WCAG audit available as its own scope.

  9. Backups & hosting

Whether backups exist, whether they restore, and whether your hosting still fits.

Your rankings move with you.

A careless migration can erase years of search visibility. Ours are planned so what you’ve earned comes along.

  • (a)

    URL map & 301 redirects

Every old page mapped to its new home, page by page.

  • (b)

    Metadata & schema carried over

Titles, descriptions and structured data preserved or improved.

  • (c)

    Staging review first

You see and approve the new site before anything goes live.

  • (d)

    Rollback plan

Full backups and a way back, prepared before the switch.

  • (e)

    Analytics continuity

Tracking moved and verified, so your data has no gaps.

  • (f)

    Launch-day monitoring

Search Console, errors and forms watched closely after go-live.

We’ve done it dozens of times. Nothing surprises us.

Website takeover questions, answered.

Can you take over a site another agency built?

Yes. That is what this service is for. We start with an audit, recover access, stabilize the site and document everything, so nothing depends on whoever built it.

What if we do not have the logins?

Very common. We help you recover access to your domain, hosting and CMS through the registrars and providers, and put every account back in your name.

Do we have to rebuild the site?

Not necessarily. Many sites only need to be revived. The audit tells us whether fixing or migrating makes more sense, and we explain the trade-offs before you decide.

Will a migration hurt our Google rankings?

Any migration carries some risk, which is why we plan it carefully: page-by-page redirects, preserved metadata and schema, a staging review and close monitoring after launch.

Which platforms can you migrate between?

WordPress, Shopify, Strapi, Webflow, Framer, Wix, Squarespace and more, plus moves between hosts and domains.

Will our site go down during the move?

We plan migrations to keep downtime to a minimum, with backups and a rollback plan ready before the switch.

What happens after the takeover?

You get a stable, documented site. Most clients keep us on a monthly Dev Partner retainer so it stays that way.
